Houzz is the world’s leading platform for home remodeling and design, bringing together more than 40 million homeowners, home design enthusiasts and home improvement professionals in a uniquely visual community. Pentagram has designed a new logo for Houzz that gives it a home to call its own. The simple, vibrant mark is constructed with a distinctive angle that evokes a modern roofline and makes the brand synonymous with the home.
Pentagram worked closely with the Houzz team to develop the new logo. Houzz is the only place that provides people with everything they need to renovate or design their homes from start to finish––to source the right design and construction professionals, to find images for inspiration, to discover new products and materials, and to connect with others who are undergoing home renovation projects. With the new identity, the company wanted to evolve the look of the brand to make it more accessible.
“Our goal for the new design was to create a friendly and memorable logo that clearly connects to our brand as the place that helps you create a home,” says Alon Cohen, Houzz president and co-founder. “We like the simplicity of the new identity, with an instantly recognizable ‘H’ and house.”
The design revamps the architectural “H” of the company’s original logo into an easy-to-read symbol that works well as an app icon. With its roof-like slant, the customized letterform reflects how the company helps people make a home uniquely their own, and the distinctive angle and pointed edges of the mark have been extended to a system of custom icons for various categories.
