Pentagram developed a comprehensive program of admissions materials for Drew University in Madison, New Jersey. The program is designed to help position Drew University as forward-looking and contemporary, less as a tradition-bound New England private university and more as a dynamic, modern university and vibrant academic community.
Working closely with Drew’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Pentagram created a coordinated system of brochures that present a cohesive but varied portrait of the school. The pieces range from a travel piece for prospective students to a welcome packet for incoming freshmen. The series is designed to position the school as forward-thinking, employing bold use of typography and other graphic devices.
Drew University approached Pentagram on this engagement due to issues with their application rates and overall decline in interest in the university. Upon completion of this project and further implementation of Pentagram design devices, applications to Drew increased by 15%, the first time there had been an increase in applications in 6 years.
The contents of the pieces capture the spirit of the university and its forested campus. A diverse, active mix of diagrams, maps, lists, pull quotes, student journeys, and newly commissioned photography help create an exciting insider’s view of what it is like to be part of the Drew family.
