Brand Identity

A favorite local bookstore in New York’s Hamptons reopens with a new identity.

New Yorkers on holiday in the Hamptons find their summer reading—and books for all year round—at the beloved independent bookstore BookHampton in the village of East Hampton on Long Island’s East End. The local landmark, originally established in 1971 and renowned for its wide-ranging selection, dedicated staff and friendly atmosphere, reopened this summer with a new owner, Carolyn Brody, and beautiful new interiors by Deborah Berke Partners. As part of the relaunch, Pentagram has designed a new identity for the store.

The identity features a wordmark set in the literary serif Didot, with the clean, modern Futura as the supporting font. The logotype is accompanied by a distinctive mark that combines the iconic shape of an Adirondack chair and books on a shelf. A color palette in cool shades of ocean blue completes the new look.
