For the 30th Film Independent Spirit Awards, Pentagram created a system of stacked and shifting typography that suggested the way film is constantly in motion. The clean type was an intentional departure from the more ubiquitous DIY aesthetics commonly associated with independent film. This more accurately reflects the importance these films play in the industry. The Spirit Awards graphics also reference the identity Pentagram created for Film Independent. The typographic approach is echoed in the 2015 LA Film Fest logo, which is also set in strong, straightforward Helvetica.
