Build America Mutual

Preview — Aug 14, 2012

Launched this summer, Build America Mutual (BAM) is the first mutual bond insurer exclusively serving the municipal market. The company is sponsored by the National League of Cities and will provide communities with insurance on municipal bonds, allowing them to undertake important capital projects like infrastructure for transportation and energy. Owned by its policyholders, BAM is the only mutual bond insurer in the financial guaranty industry and has been rated AA by Standard & Poor’s, its highest designation.

BAM’s services are the building blocks of municipal projects, and Pentagram’s Michael Bierut has designed a logo for the firm that takes the shape of a star formed of bricks. Appearing in patriotic red, white and blue, the logo is paired with a BAM acronym set in Neutraface. (This is Bierut's second "BAM," following his work for the Brooklyn institution.) The brick motif extends to the BAM website, where the homepage is constructed of a block wall of images.
